Black jack is one of the easiest card games you’re ever going to learn, but at the same time it’s a game where you’ll never stop learning. In this article we’re going to look at the rules of blackjack so you can play the game, but your learning doesn’t stop here. In order to be a successful black jack online player you need to constantly learn new strategies and systems such as card counting. By using different systems you can lower the edge the house has against you.
Objective
* The objective in black jack is to beat the dealer only and not any of the other players on the table. To beat the dealer you simply need to be closer to 21 without going over the total. If you go over 21 you “bust” your hand and lose, if the dealer busts then they also lose as long as you didn’t bust before them. Make sure you take a look at the card value chart below so you know what each cards value is.
Before the Deal
* Each player will need to place their bets out on the table in the designated spot. Every blackjack table has a minimum and maximum bet so make sure you bet a legal amount.
The Deal
* The dealer will deal out two cards face up to each player at the table starting with the player to the dealer’s immediate left. The player to the dealer’s left will always get the first card unless you’re playing in a black jack tournament.
Your Turn
* During your turn you have several different options. I would read over basic black jack strategy after reading the rest of the rules. The basic strategy will teach you which play you should make based on mathematics. Below are the options you have when it’s your turn to play your hand.
* Hit – When you “hit” it means you want to take another card.
* Stand – When you “stand” it means you want to freeze your hand.
* Double Down – When you “double down” it means you want to take another card and double your bet.
* Splitting Pairs – When you “split a pair” you simply make two hands out of your pair and you’ll need to add another bet to the second hand.
* Insurance – When the dealer is showing an ace you can buy insurance, but it isn’t recommended to do so unless you’ve been counting cards.
Card Values
* Aces – Aces are worth 1 or 11 (You get to decide).
* Tens – Kings – These cards are worth 10.
* Twos – Nines – These cards are worth face value.
These are all of the rules of black jack and as I mentioned they are fairly simple to learn. You’re going to need to learn a lot more if you want to win money playing black jack, but with the rules above you can at least start playing the game. Black jack has been one of the most popular card games for over a hundred years now and it won’t be going anywhere, anytime soon.
